- يعرف الجبس بورد بأنه مزيج يشمل كل من الفيبر جلاس ومادة الجبس والفوم الرغوي والسيلكون، ويرجع أصلها إلى ألمانيا وتكون على شكل أسطح، وعند عمل هذا الخليط يتم تكوين أسطح ذات مقاسات محددة وتكون مغطاة بالكرتون الشديد المعالج.
- ويتم استعمالها في الديكورات العديدة وفي تحضير المكاتب وفي العزل والبناء.
- وفي الفترة الأخيرة تم أضافتها في ديكورات المنازل من الداخل، فهذا يعطي للمنزل لمسة جمالية مختلفة، ويوجد الجبس بورد على هيئة أطوال عديدة وبمقاسات مختلفة وفقا لطلب العميل.
- ويتم تقسيمه إلى ثلاثة أنواع وهما؛ نوع ضد الحريق ويكون مغطى بالكرتون المعالج المقوي من ناحية ومن ناحية أخرى يكون مغطى بغطاء أحمر.
- ونوع آخر يعرف بالجيبسوم البورد ويكون من جانب عاجي بلون أبيض والجانب الآخر يظهر بلون رمادي أو بني، والنوع الثالث يكون أيضا مقاوم للحرارة والحريق والرطوبة، ولكن يتميز بزيادة كل من مادة الفيبر جلاس ومادة السيلكون من الداخل وينتج عنه إعطاء القلب الداخلي للجبس الصلابة والقوة.
- ويغطى من الجانبين معا بلون أخضر من الكرتون القوي المعالج، ويعتبر النوع الأخير أكثرهم جودة.

- يتم اختيار المكان الذي يرغب العميل في صنع الجبس بورد به سواء كان مستخدم كعازل أو للديكور، ثم يقوم المصمم بوضع جسور بمقاسات وارتفاعات محددة في السقف وتكون في أغلب الأحيان محتوية على مادة الألمونيوم حتى يتم ثقبها بيسر.

- ثم يتم تركه حتى الجفاف، وبعدها يتم استخدام ألوان لدهان الجدران، وبعض الأشخاص يرغبون في تغليفه في النهاية بورق الجدران أو الصوف المصنوع من الصخر أو يغلف بالرخام.
